Casablanca’s future rail network is beginning to take shape. According to the ONCF, work is now underway on all the main components of the project, which is expected to transform mobility in Morocco’s economic capital.
“With an investment of 20 billion dirhams, this program is part of the national rail transformation plan through 2030, which has a total budget of 96 billion dirhams,” the railway operator said in a statement.
The ONCF recalled that on September 24, 2025, King Mohammed VI “launched this program in Casablanca to support the city’s changing mobility needs.”

The Casablanca metropolitan program includes three major new-generation railway stations, 10 new commuter stations and the redevelopment of five existing stations. It also includes 260 kilometers of new rail lines, the construction or expansion of 50 bridges and other structures, two technical centers, five maintenance centers and the acquisition of 48 new trains for commuter and regional services.
Three strategic stations, one goal: Better mobility
At the heart of the program are three new-generation stations being built at strategic locations, with construction scheduled to take 24 months.
The future Casablanca-South station is set to become the main rail and intermodal hub serving the southern part of the metropolitan area.
The station will have six platforms and 10 tracks, bringing together Al Boraq high-speed trains, long-distance services and regional trains. Designed as an integrated transport hub, it will provide connections to the tramway, bus rapid transit (BRT) network, buses and taxis.
The new Mohammed V Airport station will link Casablanca-Nouaceur’s industrial and residential areas to the rest of the region. Directly connected to the airport terminal, it is designed to provide a seamless rail-to-air connection and will also have a dedicated entrance from the city of Nouaceur.
The station will have four platforms and seven tracks, allowing conventional trains, high-speed services and the dedicated Aéroexpress service to operate from the same facility, according to the ONCF.

The Grand Stade Hassan II station in Benslimane is being designed to serve two needs: the growing urban areas around the city and the large crowds expected during major international events, particularly the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The station will have two separate sections. The event facility will feature two platforms and four tracks for high-speed trains, while the suburban section will have five platforms and six tracks for commuter services. Together, they will provide a continuous rail link between Benslimane and the urban areas along the Casablanca-Rabat corridor.
Ten new commuter stations under construction
Alongside these major interchange hubs, construction of the metropolitan commuter rail network has entered a key phase, with all 10 new stations now under development.
The stations are spread across the metropolitan area’s main corridors and will serve population and employment centers in Mohammedia-Facultés, Zenata-Industrial Zone, Zenata-New Town, Sidi Bernoussi, Aïn Sebaâ, Hay Mohammadi, Mers Sultan, Casa-Oasis, Sidi Maârouf and Nouaceur-New Town.
All 10 stations are being built according to a common architectural design intended to make passenger movement easier, from the street to the platforms, with upgraded ticketing, reception and waiting areas.
The ONCF said it is continuing work on “this major program,” which it expects to make rail “one of the main pillars of the metropolitan area’s future transport system,” support
