The National Railways Office (ONCF) is continuing construction of the viaduct, a key structure on the high-speed line that will connect Kenitra to Marrakech.

The viaduct spans 1,400 meters and rests on 29 supports, with 28 spans measuring 50 meters each. The spans range in height from 6 to 36 meters.

The project, valued at 900 million dirhams, requires substantial technical resources. Construction involves 7,700 metric tons of steel framework and 62,500 cubic meters of concrete. Its foundations rely on 9.5 kilometers of piles to ensure stability.

King Mohammed VI launched construction of the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail line on April 24, 2025, from Rabat-Agdal station. The 430-kilometer extension will extend the Al Boraq line, currently operating between Tangier and Kenitra. The route will serve Rabat and Casablanca before reaching Marrakech.

Designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h, the line is estimated to cost 53 billion dirhams, excluding rolling stock. It is part of a 96-billion-dirham rail investment program that includes the acquisition of 168 trains for 29 billion dirhams and 14 billion dirhams to maintain the network’s performance.

On May 25, 2026, Transport and Logistics Minister Abdessamad Kayouh announced that construction had reached 30% completion. The line is scheduled to enter service in September 2029.
