Morocco exported MAD 86.2 billion worth of agri-food products in 2025, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests following the 2026 board meeting of Morocco Foodex, the country’s independent export control and coordination agency. The meeting was chaired by Agriculture Minister Ahmed El Bouari.
The ministry said the performance confirms the sector’s position as Morocco’s third-largest source of foreign currency earnings, accounting for around 18% of the country’s total exports.
In volume terms, agri-food exports reached 4.7 million metric tons in 2025, up 9% from 2020 and 49% compared with 2015, reflecting the continued expansion of Morocco’s export industries in international markets.
The ministry noted that the 2025-2026 citrus export season was affected by exceptional weather conditions that reduced export volumes. Citrus exports totaled 553,000 metric tons, down 12% from 626,000 metric tons during the same period of the previous season. Exports of fruits and vegetables, particularly tomatoes, also declined.

In his opening remarks, El Bouari highlighted the strategic role played by Morocco Foodex in supporting and expanding exports of agricultural products, agri-food goods, and fisheries products while strengthening the competitiveness of Moroccan exports abroad.
He also praised the agency’s work in technical inspections, strategic, regulatory, and commercial monitoring, export promotion, and support for economic operators to help them meet international market requirements and reinforce the global position of Moroccan products.
At the close of the meeting, the minister commended the agency’s results, as well as the commitment of its staff, producers, exporters, and partners.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between domestic supply and export markets while continuing efforts to increase export volumes, diversify destination markets, and support new exporters, particularly young entrepreneurs and startups, in line with the goals of Morocco’s “Green Generation 2020-2030″ strategy.
Morocco Foodex Director General Ghaïtha El Gharfi also presented a review of the agency’s main technical and financial achievements for 2025, the progress made in implementing its 2026 budget during the first half of the year, and the latest trends in Morocco’s agri-food exports.
