To celebrate Morocco’s National Day for Moroccans Living Abroad, associations Beyond Nations and Dynamic Maroc held a meeting in Rabat, bringing together around 40 entrepreneurs, executives, elected officials, and other members of the Moroccan diaspora.

The meeting formed part of the second edition of a networking luncheon dedicated to Moroccans living abroad (MRE). According to a statement from the organizers, this initiative forms part of a broader effort to establish a structured, sustainable and influential global network of Moroccans, capable of mobilizing the diaspora’s skills, expertise, experience and international networks in support of Morocco’s development and global standing.

The two associations said that the initiative builds on the royal vision which places Moroccans living abroad at the heart of Morocco’s national development efforts. “We are working to build a strong, open MRE network connected to the different components of Morocco’s national ecosystem,” they said, aiming to turn this vision into concrete initiatives.

Around 40 entrepreneurs, elected officials and professionals from various backgrounds attended the event, sharing their experiences, presenting their projects and reaffirming their commitment to contributing to Morocco’s economic and social development.

In attendance were Fathallah Sijilmassi (former ambassador and former director-general of the Moroccan Agency for Investment Development (AMDI), who is now director-general of the African Union Commission); M’jid El Guerrab (an elected representative of French citizens living abroad, and former member of parliament for the ninth constituency of French citizens abroad); and Hanane Mazili (an official at the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME)).

Their participation contributed to discussions on international mobility, diaspora engagement, investment, value creation, expertise transfer, and Morocco’s international standing. During the meeting, Fathallah Sijilmassi shared his views on the future of relations between Europe and Africa, focusing particularly on the strategic role of diaspora.

According to the organizers, the discussions revealed a consensus that a connection to Morocco should manifest as tangible forms of engagement. Bouchra Bayed, founder and president of The Moroccan Pulse – Beyond Nations, then outlined the association’s main areas of action: entrepreneurship, investment, sharing expertise, supporting young entrepreneurs, connecting Moroccans around the world with institutional stakeholders, contributing to development projects, and mobilizing international networks.

Bayed said, “With this in mind, The Moroccan Pulse and Dynamic Maroc seek to foster a genuine culture of networking among Moroccans living abroad, based on mutual knowledge, professional solidarity, the sharing of opportunities, and the collective ability to develop new initiatives.”
