With water resources under growing pressure, maintaining distribution networks and reducing water losses remain key operational priorities. SRM-SM continues to operate, maintain and renew its infrastructure while monitoring water quality and responding to complaints from residents.

Figures through the end of September show sustained technical work aimed at improving network performance and the quality of service.

More than 32,000 network operations

SRM-SM manages a distribution network spanning 8,100 kilometers, with regular monitoring and maintenance to keep infrastructure in working order. By the end of September 2026, the company had renewed 70 kilometers of pipes and 5,500 individual connections as part of its efforts to modernize and preserve water infrastructure.

It had also carried out more than 32,000 operational interventions, including nearly 27,000 leak repairs. The work aims to restore installations, limit water losses and maintain a continuous supply.

Beyond repairs, replacing pipes and individual connections helps reduce the risk of breakdowns and improve the network’s long-term reliability.

Leak detection to help conserve water

With water conservation a pressing concern, leak detection is a key part of the company’s operations.

By the end of September 2026, teams had carried out leak detection operations across more than 11,000 kilometers of network. After completing an initial survey of the entire network, they began a second pass to identify irregularities more effectively and locate leaks that could affect infrastructure performance.

The approach combines regular network monitoring, early detection of faults and targeted repairs. It is designed to limit water losses and improve network efficiency, both essential to more sustainable drinking water management.

Water quality monitoring reports full compliance

Ensuring the safety of distributed drinking water remains a priority for SRM-SM. The company reported a 100% compliance rate in water quality monitoring results through the end of September 2026.

The monitoring system includes tests conducted by the company’s Water Quality Laboratory, which is accredited under the international ISO/IEC 17025 standard governing the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

SRM-SM also commissions independent verification tests from an approved external laboratory under a dedicated contract. These tests complement the company’s internal checks and provide independent results to support ongoing monitoring of the water supply.

Using both internal and external laboratory analyses is intended to strengthen the rigor, traceability and reliability of testing and help protect public health.

All complaints received had been processed

Public service performance depends not only on the condition of infrastructure but also on how effectively citizens’ concerns are handled.

According to SRM-SM’s figures, 100% of complaints received had been processed by the end of September 2026. The company says its relevant departments have worked to ensure requests are addressed and the necessary responses provided.

Complaint tracking complements field operations, helping improve responsiveness, relations with residents and public confidence in the service.

Preparing the network for winter

Drinking water networks require year-round attention. As winter approaches, SRM-SM is continuing preventive measures, including monitoring the condition of installations, identifying anomalies and mobilizing operational teams.

The aim is to anticipate potential disruptions, adapt interventions to seasonal conditions and maintain an uninterrupted water supply.

Through infrastructure renewal, leak detection, water quality testing and complaint handling, SRM-SM says it is working to provide a reliable and sustainable drinking water service for residents across the Souss-Massa region.
