Taza plans MAD 354 million wastewater plant with 20,000 m³ daily capacity

The project includes a 2,000 m³-a-day tertiary treatment unit to allow treated water to be reused, with the winning contractor also responsible for operating the plant for five years.

Taza is preparing a new wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of more than 20,000 cubic meters a day, under a MAD 353.57 million project put out to tender by the Fez-Meknes Regional Multi-Service Company.

The contract covers both the design and construction of the plant and its operation and maintenance for five years.

Once completed, the facility will be able to treat up to 20,198 cubic meters of wastewater a day using low-load activated sludge technology.

A separate tertiary treatment unit will handle up to 2,000 cubic meters daily, bringing the treated water to a quality that allows part of it to be reused.

The project forms part of Taza’s wastewater management program and is intended to increase treatment capacity as the city’s urban and population needs grow.

The five-year operating period included in the contract will require the plant to meet the technical and environmental standards set for the project.
