Denmark has described Morocco’s autonomy plan as a “good basis” for a mutually agreed solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, reaffirming its support for the proposal during Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita’s visit to Copenhagen on Friday.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said the autonomy proposal is “credible” and represents a “serious and essential contribution to the ongoing UN process."

He said the plan provided a “good basis for a mutually agreed solution by all parties."

Denmark also welcomed the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797.

“Denmark lauds, in line with the European Union’s position, the adoption of UNSC Resolution 2797,” Rasmussen said.

Denmark is a member of the UN Security Council.
