The agreement marks a new step in consolidating cooperation between the two institutions, based on a shared vision of supporting sustainable development in Africa, AMCI Director General Mohamed Methqal said.
He said the two agencies intend to build on their complementary expertise and networks to design and implement high-impact projects that respond to the priorities and needs of African partner countries.
Methqal said the initiative is in line with King Mohammed VI’s vision, which places South-South cooperation, knowledge-sharing and partnerships with African countries at the heart of Morocco’s cooperation programs.
The memorandum formalizes the two agencies’ commitment to further develop their partnership and promote new initiatives involving Moroccan, Belgian, European and African stakeholders.

The cooperation will draw on Moroccan and Belgian expertise, as well as the know-how of African partner countries, to implement concrete and sustainable projects adapted to local conditions and development priorities.
Enabel Director General Jean Van Wetter highlighted Morocco’s role as a bridge between Europe and Africa, saying the agreement gives Enabel’s partnership with AMCI an even more strategic dimension.
He also welcomed the prospects opened by the cooperation in support of sustainable development.
The memorandum was signed at the end of a high-level seminar on cooperation and its future prospects, jointly organized by AMCI and Enabel in Brussels on Sept. 8 and 9. The two institutions have been partners since 2006.
