Candidate filing for the September 23 legislative elections will open at 8am on Monday, August 31 and close at noon on Wednesday, September 9, the Interior Ministry said.
The process will take place in two stages, with list representatives required to file electronically first before submitting the original nomination papers to the relevant local authority.
Online filing will open at 8am on August 31 and close at noon on Tuesday, September 8, one day before the overall nomination deadline.
List representatives must complete the electronic form and upload the required documents through the “Declaration of Candidacy” section of the elections portal.
The online step is compulsory. A nomination dossier cannot be submitted physically unless it has first been filed through the platform, the ministry said.
Candidates can complete the process using their own computers or other electronic devices. Dedicated facilities will also be available at wilayas, prefectures, provinces and district prefectures for those requiring access to the necessary equipment.
The facilities will operate during official working hours from 8am, including Saturdays and Sundays, throughout the online filing period. List representatives may also bring someone with them to assist with the electronic submission.
Original papers due by September 9
Once the online filing is complete, list representatives will receive a provisional receipt specifying when they must submit their original papers.
For local constituencies, dossiers must be filed at the relevant prefecture, province or district prefecture. Regional constituency lists must be submitted at the regional wilaya.
Representatives will have to present the provisional receipt downloaded from the platform along with the original nomination declaration and supporting documents.
The nomination period will be followed immediately by the campaign.
Campaigning starts on Thursday, September 10 and runs until midnight on Tuesday, September 22, before voters head to the polls the following day.
