The provincial authorities have made restoring disrupted road links a top priority, with work underway at kilometer point 223+500 on National Road No. 16, where landslides occur repeatedly during heavy rainfall. The project is currently 30% complete.
At the same time, work on engineering structures along Provincial Roads No. 4111 and 4113 has been accelerated, with progress reaching nearly 65% to ensure uninterrupted traffic. Maintenance work is also underway on several sections of National Road No. 2, with completion at 40%, to address surface deterioration and drainage channels for rainwater.
Preparing for the Rainy Season and Protecting Villages
Technical services have completed studies for the rehabilitation of classified and unclassified roads, paving the way for work to begin in the coming days after administrative and financial procedures were completed under the direct supervision of provincial governor Zakaria Hachlaf, in coordination with local authorities and the regional multiservice company.

Unclassified roads are vital to local residents, as they are often the only links between villages and urban centers, healthcare facilities, schools and weekly markets. Even a temporary road closure can therefore leave entire communities isolated.
Meanwhile, the Chefchaouen municipal council is racing to complete intervention procedures within the urban area, repair damage caused by previous rainfall and ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety before the new rainy season begins.
Structural Investments and Planning Through 2027
Provincial authorities have drawn up a program covering 2026 and 2027 to stabilize slopes along National Roads 2, 13 and 16 and upgrade engineering structures on Regional Road No. 419. The program also allocates 65 million dirhams to strengthen Provincial Road No. 4109 along a 27.5-kilometer stretch.
Work on Regional Road No. 419 has accelerated after the completion of upgrades to the 6.5-kilometer section between kilometer points 21 and 27, at a cost of 41.9 million dirhams. Work continues on the three remaining sections, bringing the total budget allocated to this key route to 200.8 million dirhams.

As part of efforts to improve access between rural communities, paving work on the road linking Oudal and Al Mwasif in the commune of Tamorot has reached 20%, with a budget of 18 million dirhams. Meanwhile, the project to strengthen the route linking Al Ghdir center and Regional Road No. 410 is nearing the implementation phase, at a cost of 16 million dirhams.
