According to a security source, the investigating judge ordered the suspect’s placement in pretrial detention after the investigation uncovered strong indications of his involvement in fraud, deception, and impersonating public officials, in accordance with Article 381 of the Moroccan Penal Code.
The suspect was arrested near an apartment he had rented in the Malabata district following a field investigation that found he had falsely claimed he could use his influence with public institutions and government agencies in exchange for money.
A search of his residence led to the seizure of handcuffs, a plastic handgun, a two-way radio, as well as mobile phones and electronic devices that have been sent for forensic examination to determine the full scope of his activities and identify any additional victims.

The investigation also found that the suspect, who has a criminal record in similar cases, allegedly changed the identity he claimed depending on the victim. At times, he presented himself as a member of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), while in other instances he claimed to belong to the National Judicial Police Brigade or the Royal Security Escort Unit.
The investigating judge is expected to continue questioning the suspect in the coming days, confront him with the seized evidence and the results of the digital forensic analysis, and determine whether he acted alone or with accomplices.
