Imad had his whole life ahead of him. But in the early hours of Friday, October 30, 2026, his life came to a sudden and violent end on a street in Plasencia, where he lived with his family. The 22-year-old was stabbed several times during an altercation and later died from his injuries.
The attack took place at around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Talavera and Encarnación streets in the city center. What began as a dispute between two young men turned deadly when Imad was stabbed with a bladed weapon. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but doctors were unable to save him.
His death has left behind a grieving mother, heartbroken siblings and a family struggling to accept a loss they never imagined facing. The killing has not only cut short the life of a young man, but left a deep wound among those closest to him.

His family is now calling for a full investigation into the circumstances of his death and for the person responsible to be held accountable under Spanish law. They want all the facts established and the harshest penalty permitted by law imposed if the suspect is convicted.
Social media campaign calls for justice for Imad
In the wake of the killing, social media users launched a campaign in solidarity with the young Moroccan, sharing messages of grief and anger and demanding justice.
Some also questioned what they described as the limited coverage of the case in Spanish media. They asked whether a similar killing would have received the same level of attention if the victim had been Spanish and the suspect Moroccan.
Other users questioned whether victims receive different levels of attention depending on their nationality or background. They argued that a person’s life and right to justice should never depend on their nationality or immigration status.
The hashtag #JusticiaParaImad (Justice for Imad) has since circulated widely, with users calling for the circumstances of the killing to be clarified and those responsible to face the consequences under the law.

Imad’s brother also broke his silence in a post on his social media story, calling for justice for his sibling and expressing the demand of a family waiting for the legal process to take its course.

At the same time, messages of solidarity have stressed that demanding justice must not turn into incitement against Spanish people or collective blame for an individual crime. The call, they say, is for accountability, for the family to learn the truth and for those responsible to be dealt with under the law.
Spanish court remands main suspect in custody
In the latest development, a court in Plasencia on Sunday, November 1, 2026, ordered the main suspect in Imad’s killing to be held in pretrial detention. A second man was released pending further proceedings over suspected drug-related offenses and allegedly helping the main suspect attempt to flee.
According to Spanish broadcaster Canal Extremadura, police identified the main suspect, a 19-year-old man, using eyewitness accounts before locating a nearby property believed to be connected to the case.
The report said officers foiled an attempt by the two suspects, aged 19 and 26, to flee. The older man allegedly tried to help the main suspect escape while also moving and concealing a significant quantity of drugs.
Police seized two bags containing 16 kilograms of hashish and two kilograms of marijuana. A search of the property also uncovered 17 bladed weapons of various types, two imitation firearms, five grams of cocaine and a car allegedly used by the two men.

After retracing the main suspect’s movements following the attack, investigators also found a bladed weapon that preliminary forensic findings suggest may have been used in the killing.
The discoveries add to the evidence being examined by investigators. The judicial proceedings are continuing, with the final criminal responsibility of those involved yet to be established.
Plasencia’s Muslim community condemns killing and calls for answers
Plasencia’s Muslim community has also expressed shock and deep sadness over Imad’s death, offering its condolences and support to his family and relatives.
In a statement issued on Saturday, October 31, the community strongly condemned the killing and called for the circumstances to be fully investigated and responsibility established in accordance with the law, according to Spanish outlet El Periódico Extremadura.
It warned against allowing grief to fuel hatred or confrontation, urging residents to remain calm and responsible and to avoid spreading rumors or drawing conclusions about the motive before the investigation is complete.
The community also reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence in Plasencia. It said it would discuss the possibility of holding a peaceful gathering in memory of Imad, in coordination with his family and the relevant institutions, as a way to show solidarity and support for his loved ones.

A family waiting for justice
As the investigation and court proceedings continue in Spain, Imad’s family is left to cope with the loss of a son and brother who was killed in violent circumstances. They are demanding answers, a full account of what happened and the harshest penalties allowed by law for anyone found guilty.
For his relatives, this is not simply a criminal case before the courts. It is the loss of a young man whose life was cut short, of plans that will never be fulfilled and of a presence that will be deeply missed.
No court ruling can bring Imad back. But his family wants justice to run its course and everyone found responsible for his death to be held accountable.
Amid the grief and the wait for a judicial decision, one message continues to appear in the calls for solidarity with the young Moroccan’s family: “Justice for Imad.”
