Mustapha Lakhsem was rushed to a hospital in Fez on the afternoon of Sunday, September 6, after losing consciousness in Imouzzer Kandar. The mayor and former world kickboxing champion is now out of danger, according to an official statement from his political party.

The sudden illness, believed to be linked to severe food poisoning, required immediate medical attention. Doctors performed gastric lavage at the hospital, after which his condition improved rapidly. No major complications have been reported, and his medical indicators are reassuring.

The incident sparked concern and fueled rumors on social media. In response, the Democratic and Social Movement Party (MDS) issued a statement on Sunday evening to reassure the public about Lakhsem, who is set to lead its list in the upcoming legislative elections in the Sefrou constituency.

The party stated that his condition is “stable” and that he remains under medical observation. MDS Secretary-General Abdessamad Archane has been closely monitoring the situation from the outset, maintaining constant contact with the medical team and Lakhsem’s family.

Following his brief hospital stay, Lakhsem is expected to resume his activities soon.
