The ranking, based on data from Scopus, evaluates the impact of scientific research using several indicators, including citations and the h-index. It also factors in publication quality through the impact factor of the journals in which research papers are published.

The nine UEMF researchers recognized in the ranking are, in order: Professors Mostapha Bousmina, Belkheir Hammouti, Abdelkrim El Kadib, Chakib Nejjari, Rachid Salghi, Taibi Ben Hadda, Abdelkarim Chaouiki, Chakib Alaoui and Rajae Salim.

The university has steadily increased its representation in the ranking over the past three years. Four UEMF researchers were included in 2024, followed by eight in 2025 and nine in 2026.

UEMF said the results confirm the importance of research and innovation in its development strategy and highlight the international reach of work carried out by its researchers.

The recognition adds to a series of recent distinctions for the university. UEMF ranked first among Moroccan universities in the 2026 Round University Ranking for the second consecutive year, after taking the top national spot in 2025.

It also ranked first in Morocco in the 2026 UI GreenMetric ranking, which assesses university sustainability, placing 323rd worldwide.

In the 2026 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, UEMF ranked second nationally and placed in the 401-600 range worldwide. It also ranked first among Moroccan universities in the 2025 ScholarGPS ranking, which measures the scientific performance of institutions. The university had previously been recognized by the ranking in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

UEMF congratulated its president and the researchers recognized in the Stanford–Elsevier ranking, praising their contribution to the university’s scientific standing and to Morocco’s international research profile.
