The operation near Ayer-Bdouza beach led to the seizure of a pickup truck carrying the drugs, along with equipment suspected of being used in the illegal activity, according to a security source.

On instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office, the vehicle was taken to the Royal Gendarmerie company headquarters, where the seized cargo was to be weighed and documented before being handed over to customs authorities in accordance with their legal remit. The vehicle was placed in an impound lot.

Investigators have identified several people suspected of involvement in the case and issued a nationwide wanted notice for their arrest.

Investigations are continuing to identify any other potential suspects and establish the circumstances surrounding the operation. Those implicated are to be brought before the courts.
