The Royal Moroccan Air Force’s “Green March” aerobatic team transformed the skies over M’diq and Martil into a spectacular display on Friday, celebrating Youth Day.
Large crowds of residents, visitors, and tourists—both Moroccan and foreign—who were summering in the region, watched as seven pilots performed a series of aerial maneuvers in their CAP 232 aircraft, designed specifically for aerobatic displays.
The pilots executed a series of carefully coordinated maneuvers and formations, showcasing precision, control, and synchronization, which captivated spectators.
The various aerial maneuvers enthralled the crowds, who watched the aircraft form coordinated patterns over M’diq and Martil in a festive atmosphere befitting the national occasion.
From dramatic climbs to controlled descents towards the sea, the aircraft used colored smoke to create geometric formations, turning the skies above the two cities into a vast canvas.
During the two displays, the Green March team performed both individual and group maneuvers. Individual displays included the “Loop,” “Corkscrew,” “Low Pass,” “Hesitation Roll,” and “Tail Slide.” Group maneuvers featured the “Avalanche,” “Crossing,” “Hurricane,” “Spiral,” and “Lady’s Loop.” The “Lady’s Loop” is particularly notable as it is associated with the Green March team and was registered under its name in the Guinness World Records in the late 1980s.
Beyond demonstrating exceptional flying skills, the displays also conveyed symbolic and national messages. The pilots formed the “Sharifian Star” in the sky, referencing the central emblem of Morocco’s national flag, before creating a “Double Heart” as a symbolic expression of loyalty and attachment to the Alaouite dynasty.
The aerial formations continued with the “Synchronized Oblique Roll,” “Head-on Crossing,” “Slow Spiral,” “Bell,” “Solo Roll with Double Turn,” and “Hurricane Pass,” turning the skies above the beaches of M’diq and Martil into a captivating stage for holidaymakers and visitors.
The team’s diverse displays once again underscored the skill and high level of training of Royal Moroccan Air Force pilots.
The Green March aerobatic team of the Royal Moroccan Air Force was established in 1984 by order of the late King Hassan II and has since received the continued support and patronage of King Mohammed VI.
