Panathinaikos announced on Wednesday, September 2, the signing of Azzedine Ounahi. The Moroccan international midfielder leaves Girona FC to return to the Greek club, where he has signed for the next four seasons, until June 2030.
Ounahi is already familiar with the club. The Atlas Lion played for Panathinaikos during the 2024-2025 season on loan from Olympique de Marseille. After impressing in Greece, he moved to Girona FC to continue his career in La Liga.
Wearing the Catalan club’s colors, Azzedine Ounahi made 25 league appearances during the 2025-2026 season, scoring five goals and providing two assists.

The Moroccan midfielder nevertheless had several suitors during the summer transfer window, including Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and Real Betis. Ounahi ultimately chose to return to Panathinaikos, two years after his first spell in Athens.
