Badr Hari has responded to reports that he was arrested in Amsterdam, rejecting the allegations against him and giving his account of what happened.
In a statement published on Wednesday, September 2, the Moroccan kickboxing champion said he had not been forcibly arrested.
According to the statement, he responded to a request from police and “went voluntarily to the police station.” It added that he has cooperated with investigators from the start of the proceedings and will continue to do so to “ensure that the facts can be established accurately.”
Hari’s representatives also provided details about the case. They said the investigation is linked to an ongoing family dispute between Hari and his former wife following their divorce, including disagreements over the upbringing of their children.
The statement stressed one point in particular: “No physical violence is alleged in this case.”

The statement was also categorical about the allegations against the 41-year-old fighter: “Badr Hari categorically denies the allegations against him and maintains that they do not accurately reflect the facts.”
Hari does not intend to comment further on the details of the case while the proceedings are ongoing. The statement said this decision was made to protect his children, their mother and the integrity of the proceedings. It also said that Hari continues to meet his family responsibilities and professional commitments.

His representatives have called for the presumption of innocence and the privacy of everyone involved to be respected until the proceedings are concluded, particularly that of the children.
