Barcelona interested in Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi

After attracting interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window, Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has now reportedly emerged as a target for FC Barcelona, which is looking to compensate for the absence of the injured Frenkie de Jong.

After an impressive season with Girona and a successful 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with Morocco, midfielder Azzedine Ounahi could be set for the next step in his career. FC Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing him to strengthen its midfield.

According to Spanish journalist Gonzalo Tortosa, the Catalan club is exploring a move for Ounahi following the injury to Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

Following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ajax Amsterdam also opened talks with Girona in an attempt to sign the Moroccan international and reinforce its midfield.

During the 2025-26 La Liga season, Ounahi made 25 appearances for Girona, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
