In front of a packed crowd, Hicham Dguig’s side had to work hard against a physically demanding Angolan team that fought for every ball. Morocco created several chances early on but struggled to break through as Angola held firm and threatened on the counterattack.
Royal Moroccan Football Federation President Fouzi Lekjaa and Confederation of African Football President Patrice Motsepe were among those watching from the stands.
The opening period was closely contested, with Morocco trying different approaches to unlock Angola’s defense. The breakthrough finally came with four minutes left in the first half, when Othmane Idrissi, wearing number 5, unleashed a powerful shot to put Morocco ahead and send the Rabat crowd into celebration.
Angola’s fifth team foul gave Morocco a chance to double its lead from a 10-meter free kick, but the Atlas Lions failed to convert. Angola capitalized and equalized, only for Youssef Jaouad to restore Morocco’s advantage with a powerful strike seconds before halftime, sending his team into the break up 2-1.
Morocco came out strongly after the restart. Idriss Raiss El Fenni, wearing number 14, scored the third goal to give the Atlas Lions a firmer grip on the final.
Dguig’s players then looked to manage their lead while continuing to push forward. With seven minutes remaining, Ismail Amazal finished off a well-worked move to make it 4-1, showcasing the coordinated attacking play associated with Morocco’s futsal side.
Bilal Bakkali added a fifth goal a few minutes later, capping Morocco’s attacking display. Angola scored again with two minutes left, but the comeback came too late to threaten the Moroccan lead.
The Atlas Lions finished the tournament with 28 goals in five matches and conceded just two.
Morocco had topped its group with nine points after beating Algeria 4-0, Zambia 7-0 and Libya 6-0. The team then swept past Egypt 6-0 in the semifinals before facing Angola in the final.
The latest triumph makes Morocco the most successful nation in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations futsal tournament, with four consecutive titles won in 2016, 2020, 2024 and 2026.
