The Moroccan national futsal team wrapped up the group stage of the 2026 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations with a commanding 6-0 win over Libya on Friday, October 16, at the Sports Palace in Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex.
Hicham Dguig’s side secured their third consecutive victory in the competition on the final matchday of the group stage, having already booked their place in the semi-finals.
The match was attended by Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and Minister of Economy, Finance and Public Performance, as well as Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports.
Morocco were without Soufiane Chaaraoui, who was injured in the match against Zambia. Initial medical examinations confirmed that he would miss the game against Libya. Further tests are planned to assess the severity of his injury and determine whether he can return before the end of the tournament.
On the court, Morocco took control from the outset and went into halftime with a three-goal lead. Captain Soufiane El Mesrar scored twice, while Othmane Idrissi also found the net.
El Mesrar needed just four minutes after the restart to score his third goal of the night and complete his hat-trick. Idrissi then added Morocco’s fifth before Bilal Bakkali sealed the 6-0 win.
Having already secured semi-final qualification with victories over Algeria (4-0) and Zambia (7-0), Dguig’s men finished the group stage with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, scoring 17 goals without conceding.
In the semi-finals, the Moroccan national futsal team will face the runner-up in Group B, which includes Egypt, Angola, Mozambique and Tanzania.
