The Moroccan U17 women’s national team faces Argentina on Friday, October 23, in their final Group A match at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. The decisive clash will determine whether the Atlas Lionesses advance to the round of 16.
After opening the tournament with a 4-0 win over New Zealand, the Atlas Lionesses suffered their first defeat of the competition on Tuesday, October 20, losing 4-2 to Germany at the Mohammed VI Football Complex.
Despite the loss, Morocco remain second in Group A with three points and a +2 goal difference, just ahead of Argentina, who also have three points but a +1 goal difference.
Friday’s clash is therefore crucial for both teams. Morocco have the advantage on goal difference but will need a strong performance against an Argentine side with the same objective of reaching the knockout stage.
Backed by their home crowd, the Atlas Lionesses will look to rediscover the attacking efficiency they showed in their opening game while avoiding the defensive mistakes that proved costly against Germany.
Argentina, meanwhile, began the tournament with a 2-1 defeat to Germany before bouncing back with a 2-0 win over New Zealand. That victory leaves them with a genuine chance of qualifying ahead of the final group-stage matchday.
Morocco vs. Argentina kicks off at 18:00 and will be broadcast live on Arryadia TNT, beIN Sports and TOD, as well as streamed on the FIFA+ platform.
The U17 Women’s World Cup features 24 teams divided into six groups. The top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, advance to the round of 16.
