José Mourinho praised Brahim Diaz after the Moroccan international’s performance in Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League win over Inter Milan at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Starting for Real Madrid in their opening Champions League game, Diaz put in a strong display against Inter. He provided the assist for Kylian Mbappé’s 14th-minute opener before setting up another chance for Jude Bellingham in the 57th minute after a series of dribbles that took him past several Inter players.
Although the England midfielder was unable to convert the opportunity, Mourinho highlighted Diaz’s contribution to the team, with the Moroccan playing an important role in Real Madrid’s attacking play against the Italian side.
Speaking at the post-match press conference after the 2-1 victory, the Portuguese coach said: “Brahim did a very good job for the team, moving inside and allowing our full-backs to press on the outside. He did a very good job for the collective.”
It was a strong start to the Champions League campaign for the Moroccan international, who will now look to build on the performance and establish himself further in the Real Madrid squad.
