Adel Taarabt has announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a career that began at Lens and took him to clubs in several countries before his final spell with Sharjah.
The former Morocco international confirmed the decision in a post on his official Instagram account, reflecting on his career and the role football played in his life.
“I knew this day would come, the time has come to close this chapter.”
“Football has been such a big part of my life for so many years. It gave me amazing memories, let me meet incredible people and live moments I will never forget.”
Taarabt also thanked the clubs he represented, along with the coaches, teammates, staff and supporters who accompanied him throughout his career.
“To every club I had the honor to represent, from Lens to Sharjah, thank you for being part of my story,” he wrote.
The former attacking midfielder also singled out his time with Morocco, where he earned international recognition and represented the Atlas Lions.
“Representing Morocco will always have a special place in my heart,” he said.
Looking back on his career, Taarabt acknowledged that it included both difficult periods and memorable moments, while saying he would not change the path he took.
“There were good moments, difficult moments, mistakes, great nights… everything. But that was my journey, and I wouldn’t change it. Alhamdulillah for everything.”
