Crystal Palace presented Taha Majni on Monday, September 7, after signing the young Moroccan defender from Union Touarga Sportive during the summer transfer window.
Majni, a product of Union Touarga Sportive and a member of Morocco’s U20 World Cup-winning team, becomes the first Moroccan player from the Botola Pro Inwi to join the Premier League.
Speaking after completing his move, Majni said he was excited to begin his new adventure with the London club.
“Palace is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and in the world. The club has achieved a lot in recent years, so I am very happy to start this new adventure with them,” he said.
Majni is also the third Moroccan player to represent Crystal Palace, following Marouane Chamakh and Chadi Riad.
Gary Issott, the club’s academy director, welcomed the young defender’s arrival.
“Taha had an excellent 2025-26 season, gaining valuable senior experience in Morocco’s top flight and helping Morocco win the U20 World Cup at just 17,” he said.
“He is a talented and versatile defender who impressed us with his performances. We believe Palace is the ideal environment for him to continue his development,” he added.
Majni’s transfer was completed overnight from Tuesday into Wednesday for a fee of 7.5 million dirhams, with bonuses potentially taking the deal to 8 million dirhams. Union Touarga will also retain 25% of the player’s rights in the event of a future sale.
