Al-Ittihad Tripoli officially presented Soufiane Boufal on Monday, September 14, after the Moroccan international arrived in the Libyan capital to join the club.

Boufal landed in Tripoli on Saturday evening, September 12, before being presented by Al-Ittihad officials two days later, confirming his arrival at the Libyan club during the summer transfer window.

The Moroccan forward has previously played for Angers, Southampton, Celta Vigo, Al-Rayyan and most recently Le Havre. He now begins a new experience in Africa after spending most of his career in Europe.

The Atlas Lion had been approached by several European clubs during the summer transfer window but opted for a first experience on the African continent.

Currently coached by Tunisian manager Faouzi Benzarti, the Tripoli-based club is one of Libya’s most successful sides. Al-Ittihad holds the record for league titles in the country, with 18 championships won between 1965 and 2022.
