Carlos Alcaraz capped an impressive week in Vienna with a commanding straight-sets victory over Alex de Minaur on Sunday, November 1, winning the Erste Bank Open final 6-1, 6-4 to claim his fourth title of the 2026 season.

The world No. 3 was in imperious form throughout the tournament, winning all five of his matches without dropping a set. His performance in the final was no exception, as he controlled the match from the outset and needed just 97 minutes to overcome the Australian, currently ranked 10th in the world.

Alcaraz set the tone in the opening set with powerful and precise groundstrokes that repeatedly put De Minaur under pressure. The Australian, known for his speed and defensive skills, fought hard to stay in the rallies, but the Spaniard’s quality at crucial moments proved decisive. Three breaks of serve helped Alcaraz take the set 6-1.

De Minaur offered greater resistance in the second, saving break points in three separate service games. However, Alcaraz maintained his intensity and found the breakthrough in the 10th game. He sealed the title on his first championship point after winning a thrilling all-court rally.

The victory also completed a perfect season for Alcaraz at ATP 500 tournaments. He won all 16 of his matches at that level in 2026, adding the Vienna title to his triumphs in Doha and Tokyo. He has now won 26 consecutive matches at ATP 500 events, a run dating back to his defeat to Holger Rune in the Barcelona final in April 2025.

Alcaraz now turns his attention to the final stretch of the season, with the Paris Masters 1000 and the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin ahead. His dominant run in Vienna gives him a strong platform as he looks to maintain his form at the two major events remaining on the calendar.

The Spaniard has already secured his place at the ATP Finals, where he will be seeking the first title of his career at the season-ending tournament. He finished runner-up in 2025 and will be keen to go one step further this time.
