Wydad Athletic Club has announced the appointment of former midfielder Salaheddine Saidi as sporting coordinator. This continues the club’s sporting reorganization, following the recent appointment of Portuguese coach Paulo Sérgio Brito as head coach.
The Casablanca club confirmed Saidi’s appointment on Monday, July 27, through its official social media channels.
In a statement, Wydad said the appointment is part of its efforts to strengthen the club’s sporting structure by relying on the experience of a former key player who is well acquainted with the club’s identity and demands.
“This appointment is part of strengthening Wydad’s sporting structure through the experience of former club members, in order to promote better coordination between the different components of the sporting project,” the club said.
Saidi played for Wydad between 2014 and 2021 and is regarded as one of the club’s standout figures in recent history. During his time with the Red and Whites, the former midfielder won six major trophies, including four Botola Pro titles (2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021), the 2017 CAF Champions League, and the 2018 CAF Super Cup.
