Banque Populaire has launched “La Populaire Numberless,” presented as Morocco’s first bank card without a card number. The new card is designed to strengthen payment security while simplifying the user experience.
The main feature of “La Populaire Numberless” is the absence of both a card number and security code from the physical card. According to Banque Populaire, this reduces the risk of fraud linked in particular to the loss, theft or photographing of the card.
Sensitive card details are therefore no longer displayed directly on the physical card. They remain accessible exclusively through the secure Pocket Bank banking app.
Banque Populaire describes the innovation as a response to changing payment habits and a solution aligned with international standards in electronic payment technology.
Third payment innovation in 2026
The new card comes during a year that has seen the group accelerate its payment innovations. “La Populaire Numberless” is the third major payment innovation launched by Banque Populaire in 2026.
Before “La Populaire Numberless,” the group launched “La Virtuelle,” a multi-purpose virtual card presented as the first card in Morocco to allow contactless in-store payments directly through Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Banque Populaire also launched “L’Instant,” a single-use virtual card available through the Pocket Bank app. With “La Populaire Numberless,” the banking group has therefore added a third product to its series of payment innovations developed in 2026.
Through the new card, Banque Populaire says it intends to continue its innovation efforts and keep pace with changing banking habits in Morocco.
“With LA POPULAIRE NUMBERLESS, we are continuing our commitment to providing our customers with increasingly secure payment methods that are adapted to their everyday needs,” said Idriss Bensmail, BCP deputy managing director in charge of Retail Banking.
The executive added that this third pioneering innovation in 2026 “demonstrates our ability to anticipate technological developments in the payment sector and put them into practice to strengthen the security of our customers.”
