A total of 723,490 tonnes was marketed through the end of August, compared with the same period last year, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP).
Pelagic fish accounted for much of the increase in volume. Landings rose 11pc to 597,975 tonnes, while their value increased 4pc to MAD2.2bn.
Mollusks brought in considerably more money from a much smaller catch. Their value rose 3pc to MAD3.73bn on landings of 46,883 tonnes, up 8pc.
Other catches lost ground in value. Shellfish recorded the steepest fall at 85pc, while seaweed was down 23pc, white fish 7pc and crustaceans 1pc.
