Located in the Logintek industrial and logistics zone, the 24,790-square-meter plant is the group’s ninth production site worldwide. Its annual capacity will be split equally between three billion paper straws and three billion straws made from polypropylene and biodegradable materials.
The project is expected to create more than 270 direct jobs, along with hundreds of indirect positions, according to Youssef Fadel, director general of industry at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

SEOIL Corporation CEO Kyung Tae Kim said the investment reflects the company’s confidence in Morocco’s workforce, industrial capabilities and strategic location. He added that the factory would help the group expand its international presence while supporting the transfer of expertise and the development of local skills through training and exchanges with its other production sites.
Fadel said the Korean group’s decision to establish its African factory in Morocco reflects the country’s ability to attract international investment with added value. He also pointed to the role of investment promotion efforts in South Korea in bringing the project to fruition.
The factory’s opening comes less than two years after the first contacts with the investor, according to Salman Belayachi, director general of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Investment Center. He said the center and other institutions had worked to facilitate the project, adding that local production would also allow Moroccan companies to source their supplies from Settat.
The plant will incorporate water-recycling systems and energy-saving equipment. A project to install photovoltaic panels is also planned.

The inauguration also comes as the Logintek industrial and logistics zone prepares to expand. Samir El Filali Chahid, CEO of ZINAFRIK Développement, the company behind the project, said 92% of the first phase had already been marketed. A second phase is expected to launch soon to accommodate additional industrial facilities.
He said the development could generate thousands of jobs and strengthen the Casablanca-Settat region’s industrial and logistics activity.
Founded in South Korea in 1979, SEOIL Corporation supplies customers in more than 110 countries and produces over 50 billion drinking straws annually. Its Settat factory is the group’s first in Africa.
