Toei Animation has announced two new films in the One Piece anime franchise, with One Piece Film God Valley set to arrive in Japanese theaters in summer 2027 and One Piece Film Baad scheduled for 2029.

The announcement was made Sunday during the One Piece Day ’26 event in Tokyo, as the franchise prepares for major anniversary celebrations.

God Valley story heads to the big screen

One Piece Film God Valley will adapt the God Valley Incident, a major flashback currently being explored in the anime’s Elbaph Arc.

The incident takes place 38 years in the past on the island of God Valley and involves several major forces in the One Piece world, including the Rocks Pirates, the Roger Pirates, the Marines and the World Nobles. The story centers on a massive battle that led to the death of Rocks D. Xebec and the disappearance of God Valley beneath the sea.

The Elbaph Arc began airing in Japan on April 5, 2026, following a three-month production break for the television anime.

Baad announced for 2029

Toei also revealed One Piece Film Baad, which is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters in 2029.

No details about the film’s story have been announced. Creator Eiichiro Oda designed the title text for the project.

The two films are being announced as part of celebrations marking 30 years of One Piece, with the manga reaching its 30th anniversary in 2027 and the anime marking the milestone in 2029.

Luffy tops new character poll

One Piece Day ’26 also revealed the results of the franchise’s World Top 100 character poll. The poll received 13,086,239 votes across 1,567 characters, with Monkey D. Luffy taking the top spot. Roronoa Zoro ranked second, followed by Sanji in third. Oda will create new “Special Outfit” illustrations for the top 30 characters. The designs will be used in the anime, the One Piece Card Game and upcoming merchandise.

New cast announced for Netflix series

The event also brought updates on the third season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece series, One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, which is scheduled for 2027.

Emilio Sakraya will play Koza, Omid Abtahi will portray Toto, Jamie Ward will play Pell and Nabeel Khan will portray Chaka.
