The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) opened the 33rd session of its National Council on Saturday at the Palais des Congrès in Salé. The party’s governing body brings together its senior leadership and convenes less than two months before Morocco’s legislative elections, scheduled for September 23.

Fouzi Lekjaa, budget minister delegate and a central figure behind the kingdom’s fiscal policy and football development, was among those attending the session.

A source within the PAM had previously indicated that Lekjaa was in the process of joining the party. His appearance at the meeting has revived persistent speculation that has circulated across Morocco’s political scene for several months.
