Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) began deploying its “Amane” and “Madar” smart patrol vehicles on the streets of the capital, Rabat, earlier this week. The rollout comes ahead of their launch in Casablanca and Tangier in the coming days, before they are gradually introduced across the Kingdom’s major cities and police prefectures as part of the DGSN’s strategy to modernize its vehicle fleet and improve services provided to citizens, the DGSN said in a statement.
The “Amane” smart patrol vehicle is described as an innovative model developed entirely by the engineering and technical teams of the DGSN.

The vehicle is equipped with an integrated visual monitoring system using 360-degree cameras linked in real time to automatic license plate recognition and instant facial recognition applications. The system relies on advanced artificial intelligence models to carry out immediate visual verification while the vehicle is on patrol.
The patrol vehicle is directly connected to command and coordination centers as well as field units through a large onboard display, enabling it to play a central role in traffic management and crime prevention.
Preparing for major international events
The DGSN has also launched the “Madar” patrol vehicle as a mobile smart surveillance platform that transforms conventional vehicles into high-tech security units using the same AI algorithms.

The platform features an emergency lighting system developed using 3D-printing technology and incorporates high-definition cameras capable of accurately capturing the movement of vehicles traveling at high speed across six traffic lanes simultaneously. It also includes a central panoramic camera that completes a full rotation in less than three seconds, allowing it to monitor all blind spots.

The new smart patrol vehicles also feature a modern visual identity that makes them easily recognizable on public roads. They are equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) and direct access to the DGSN’s central database through an integrated identification and verification device.
According to the DGSN, the deployment follows the completion of the vehicles’ development phase, field testing and the training of police officers assigned to operate them. The initiative aims to enhance the security institution’s responsiveness and operational readiness by combining advanced technology with community policing, particularly as Morocco prepares to host major international events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
