Dog and cat owners in urban areas can get their pets vaccinated against rabies for free throughout September under a campaign running at participating private veterinary clinics.
The “Action Stop Rage” campaign runs from September 1 to 30 and is being organized by ONSSA in partnership with the National Veterinary Council.
Vaccinations are by appointment only.
Owners must book through the campaign’s dedicated platform, where they can find participating veterinarians and choose a clinic, date and available time slot.
At least one eligible dog or cat must be registered when making the booking.

On the day, owners should bring an identification document and, if available, their pet’s health record. They will also need the reservation number or QR code sent by email.
The campaign is aimed at increasing rabies vaccination coverage among pets and reducing the risk of transmission to humans.
The Stop Rage platform also sets out what to do after a possible exposure to rabies.
Anyone bitten or scratched by a potentially infected animal should immediately wash the affected area with soap and water for 15 minutes and then seek medical attention at the nearest health centre.
