Around 2,000 people benefited from a multidisciplinary medical caravan held from August 6 to 8 at the Tinejdad Level 2 Urban Health Center.

Organized by the Ait Labzem Association for Development and Solidarity in partnership with several medical organizations, the humanitarian initiative provided examinations and consultations in various specialties. These included general medicine, cardiology, diabetology, ophthalmology, urology, orthopedics, dermatology, neurology, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) medicine.

Dr. Abderrahmane Almad, head of the medical caravan, told MAP that the initiative was part of a humanitarian effort to bring specialized medical services closer to residents of the region, particularly those suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.

He noted that the caravan brought together doctors from various specialties, with contributions from the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center in Marrakech and the Pasteur Institute of Morocco. This collaboration allowed beneficiaries to access specialized examinations and a range of medical tests, combining treatment, prevention, and early detection.

The caravan also distributed medication to beneficiaries based on their diagnoses, with particular attention given to diabetic patients to ensure appropriate care and reduce complications associated with the chronic disease.

Dr. Almad also emphasized the importance of regular follow-up for people with diabetes by specialists in different fields, particularly cardiology, ophthalmology, and nephrology. This follow-up, he explained, allows for the early detection of complications and the adaptation of treatment to each patient’s health condition.

Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the initiative, praising the efforts made to bring specialized medical examinations and consultations closer to residents of the region. They also highlighted the importance of such caravans in improving access to healthcare, especially for individuals whose health requires regular medical follow-up.

Held to mark the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne, the medical caravan is part of broader efforts to bring healthcare services closer to citizens, promote prevention and early detection (particularly of chronic diseases), and facilitate access to specialized medical consultations.
