Oualidia beach is experiencing a steady influx of visitors this summer, partly due to positive word-of-mouth among families. Several holidaymakers interviewed on-site particularly praised the beach’s cleanliness and water quality.
One visitor, vacationing with his parents, described the beach as “clean” and highlighted its “pleasant climate.” He also noted the lower rental prices and the complimentary provision of umbrellas. In his view, these advantages largely explain the growing number of visitors.
Another visitor from Marrakech, a regular at the beach, compared it to northern Moroccan beaches. He found Oualidia offered a “peaceful atmosphere, a sense of security, and complete facilities,” including umbrellas, which he felt elevated the resort to the level of more renowned seaside destinations. He stated he visits annually with his parents before continuing his holiday further north.
These accounts lead to a clear conclusion: for these families, the absence of additional charges for basic facilities is a key factor in their destination choice.
Zouhair Maakour, responsible for Oualidia beach’s development, elaborated on the framework behind the services. The site has received the Blue Flag for the tenth consecutive year, an honor awarded under the Clean Beaches program by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) is among the economic partners involved in this initiative.
The on-site system is comprehensive. Over 270 meters of wooden signposts guide swimmers to various routes and facilities. Several multidisciplinary posts have been established, integrating the Royal Gendarmerie, Auxiliary Forces, Civil Protection, and a health center. A beach radio broadcasts environmental protection messages, and numerous waste bins are distributed across the site.
Regarding the free facilities mentioned by holidaymakers, Zouhair Maakour confirmed that 70 umbrellas are available on Oualidia beach. Water sports activities also undergo specific monitoring by on-site teams.
The official attributed the system’s smooth operation to directives from the governor of Sidi Bennour province and coordination with local authorities, particularly the Pasha of Oualidia.
