Al Hilal, last season’s Saudi Pro League runners-up, announced Monday, August 31, that they have mutually agreed to terminate their contract with French striker Karim Benzema.
In a brief statement, Al Hilal praised Benzema’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his professionalism, commitment, leadership, and impact both on and off the pitch.
Benzema, 38, joined Al Hilal as a free agent in February 2026 and was under contract until June 2027.
The former Real Madrid star previously played for Al Ittihad from June 2023 on a three-year contract before his move to Al Hilal.
Benzema made 16 appearances for Al Hilal, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists.
The announcement of Benzema’s departure came less than 24 hours after Al Hilal confirmed the signing of English striker Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa on a contract running until 2029.
