Work has begun on four of Had Soualem’s main roads under a MAD 105 million overhaul that will run into next year, with the six-kilometer Mohammed VI Avenue accounting for the longest stretch.

Hassan II, Lalla Khadija and Mohammed Ben Abdellah avenues are also covered, Mayor Amina Loufa told Le360. The three stretches run for 800 metres, 600 metres, and 300 metres, respectively.

Mohammed VI Avenue will get more than road works. Public lighting is to be renewed and green spaces added along the avenue.

Had Soualem municipality is putting MAD 75m into the project, with the remainder coming through a partnership involving the Casablanca-Settat region, the regional authorities and Berrechid province.

The Regional Agency for the Implementation of Projects has been handed responsibility for carrying out the scheme.

Work inside the city’s neighborhoods is following separately. Loufa said a contract covering inner streets and liquid sanitation had already been awarded, with the selected company now completing its administrative paperwork before work begins.
