Police in Benguérir arrested a 29-year-old man Tuesday morning over his alleged involvement in the intentional killing of his wife and the mutilation of her body.
Benguérir police had opened a judicial investigation after the husband reported that his wife had disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
Technical searches and field investigations revealed that the report was false and had been intended to mislead investigators, while the victim had allegedly been subjected to a fatal physical assault by her husband at their marital home.
Further investigations into the case also showed that the suspect allegedly mutilated the body by cutting it into small pieces before transporting it in a light vehicle and concealing it in different locations.
The suspect was placed in police custody as part of the judicial investigation being conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation aims to establish all the circumstances and details of the case and determine the actual motives behind the alleged crime.
