A multidisciplinary medical caravan provided healthcare services to residents of mountainous areas in Errachidia Province from October 10 to 12, bringing consultations and examinations closer to communities far from health facilities.
The initiative was organized by the Oasis Ferkla Association for the Environment and Heritage, in partnership with Actions Santé Femmes, Errachidia’s provincial authorities and the regional council, and in coordination with regional and provincial health and social protection services.
The caravan served residents of the Ferkla area in Tinejdad, Amlagou and Tadighoust. It offered consultations in general medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics and ophthalmology, with doctors traveling from France also taking part.
Lahcen Kabiri, president of the Oasis Ferkla Association for the Environment and Heritage, told the press that the caravan had carried out around 700 medical examinations, according to preliminary figures.
He said the initiative aimed to reach nomadic communities living far from healthcare facilities. The medical specialties were selected following a field study to identify the needs of the populations concerned.
Mohamed Houssini, a general practitioner in Errachidia, said the examinations included patients suffering from back and joint pain as well as ear, nose and throat conditions. Medication was provided according to each patient’s needs, he added.
