Swedish national wanted internationally arrested in Tangier

The arrest follows an international wanted notice issued by Swedish authorities in connection with alleged drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession.

The National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ), in coordination with the security services in Tangier, arrested a 27-year-old Swedish national who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities.

The suspect was also the subject of a Red Notice issued by Interpol, following a request from the Swedish authorities.

According to a police source, the arrest came after coordination with Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Stockholm. The suspect is allegedly involved in international drug and psychotropic substance trafficking as well as the unauthorized possession of automatic firearms.

The suspect was placed under the supervision of the competent authorities pending the completion of the extradition procedure, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

The operation highlights the ongoing security cooperation between Moroccan authorities, Interpol’s Rabat office and their Swedish counterparts.
