The newspaper reported on Saturday, October 31, that PSG had recently sounded out Hakimi about a possible extension. The club’s management has reportedly been testing the waters in recent weeks to see whether discussions over a new deal could begin.

But according to L’Équipe, Hakimi and his entourage have opted to take their time, believing there is still plenty of time before considering a new contract.

Hakimi last extended his deal with PSG in February 2025. The right-back, who joined the Paris club in the summer of 2022, signed a new contract that came with a significant salary increase.

The Moroccan is currently enjoying an outstanding run of form. On Friday night, he scored the first hat-trick of his career and provided two assists in PSG’s 5-1 victory over Le Havre, delivering one of his finest performances in a Paris shirt.

After the match, coach Luis Enrique had plenty of praise for the Moroccan, describing him as “the best right-back in the world.”

At 27, Hakimi has become a key figure in Luis Enrique’s system. PSG’s vice-captain behind Marquinhos, he has also played a major role in the club’s two European title triumphs.

The question now is whether PSG’s management can persuade him to commit to another deal. For now, however, Hakimi appears in no hurry to return to the negotiating table.
