Police in Tangier arrested a 28-year-old Danish national of Israeli origin on Saturday, Sept. 12, who was wanted internationally in connection with several serious criminal cases in Denmark.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Tangier police prefecture on the basis of intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
A check of the suspect’s identity against the International Criminal Police Organization’s database showed that he was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice linked to an international arrest warrant circulated by the National Central Bureau in Copenhagen.
Danish judicial authorities are seeking the man over his alleged involvement in cases involving drug trafficking, intentional homicide, kidnapping and violent unlawful detention.
According to preliminary information from the investigation, the suspect is considered among the most wanted individuals by judicial authorities in Scandinavia, and particularly in Denmark.
The man was taken into police custody pending further investigation and referral to the competent public prosecutor.
Interpol-Rabat, which operates under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), has been tasked with notifying its Danish counterpart of the arrest.
Authorities said the operation forms part of the DGSN’s efforts to strengthen international security cooperation, particularly in tracking down and apprehending individuals wanted internationally in connection with serious criminal cases.
